WOOED BY HOLLYWOO

Is Rahman Side-Tracking
His Indian Projects
For The West?

It's sad but true,
that the mark of talent is only considered legitmate once the west gives its stamp of approval. That A.R. Rahman is a musical genius is a fact we Indians have been aware of ever since he gave us lilting melodies in 'Roja' and followed it up with consistent ground-breaking music. Now, thanks to 'Slumdog Millionaire', the international circuit is abuzz with Rahman's versatillity and talent and he's become hot property on the Hollywood scene. Practically all of India rejoiced (and some even did a victory dance a la Anil Kapoor) when Rahman won the Golden Globe for his work in 'Slumdog Millionarie'. Considering it is the highest honour for cinematic brilliance, second only to the Oscars, it was a really huge deal and worth a celebration. However, amidst all this commemoration and joy, there is also a sombre fact that is taking shape. As Rahman gets progressively absorbed in global glory, a question mark hangs over his pending desi projects.
